When I was in Paris I was able to work with the blogger, Manon, of Which Clothes Today. We had so much fun shooting together! And trust me when I say, she has an amazing wardrobe! She’s sharing this look on her blog today!
Want to dress like a Parisian? Well, Manon’s got you covered with her own clothing line: Habillée. Featuring adorable dresses that can go from day-to-night and two piece jumpsuits, there’s a little something for everyone in her collection.
I had a wonderful time working with Manon, I can’t wait for our next shoot!
Finishing off my Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture re-cap with the wonderful runway of Dany Atrache! I saw some absolutely stunning dresses come down and the grand finale left me breathless! Just wait till you see it!
In keeping with my tradition, I thought I’d give you a little behind the scenes description of my experience:
I made my way through the line and flashed my email credentials. A very kind official escorted me to the check in desk, then up the stairs to the main gallery where the show would take place. The event was held at the town hall of the 4th arrondissement, and it was nothing like any town hall I’d ever seen! I’d describe it as a museum. The architecture alone had me craning my neck to take it all in.
We enter the runway area and I spotted my friends from the previous show. All settled in, I people watched as the seats slowly started to fill.
Then the show started and all I could hear was the click of my shutter and the tap tap tap of the model’s heels as they came down the runway! The adrenaline rush had me 100% focused on getting the right shot! I really didn’t get to enjoy the dresses until I was editing!
I hope you’ll enjoy a few of my personal favorites!
The beadwork is flawless!
All different silhouettes but the similar textures tie them together!
Embroidery is in this season!
Slightly edgier beadwork!
The back made me swoon!
This was the grand finale! I swear, Grace Kelly could’ve worn this gown when she married the Prince of Monaco!
The talented man himself, Dany Atrache!

*In January, when I wrote out my business goals, I had no idea I’d be checking a big one off so quickly. Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture was everything I’d hoped it would be, and more! I hope you enjoy my little re-cap/behind the scenes description of what it’s like to shoot a runway show, and the gorgeous gowns! *
I entered the Westin Hotel, armed with my camera and a stomach full of butterflies. This wasn’t my first runway show, but it was my first Haute Couture show and I did not know what to expect. Thankfully, the pit (the end of the runway where the photographers sit) was very relaxed. I heard mostly French speakers, with a few British accents thrown in. I dropped my jacket to save my spot, a not uncommon practice but a risky one, and headed backstage. Models were being primped and painted. I quietly took a few shots then headed back to the runway.
Not surprisingly my jacket had been displaced by a camera bag. I promptly recovered my space and remained there until the show started. Once you get prime real estate, you don’t give it up!
I’ve only had positive experiences in the pit during New York Fashion Week, and I knew most of the photographers there. In Paris I was 100% solo. I made a few friends and, I am happy to say, had a great time shooting. Haute Couture week is much more relaxed than what I’m used to! NYFW is full of frantic action! I know photographers who’ve had cameras dropped on their heads and had to shoot the show with a bleeding scalp. It can get rough. Shoulders get bumped and cameras get shoved. Not out of maliciousness, but out of the desire to get the best shot.
We are all perfectionists in our work and we all have to deliver.
It’s a truly exhilarating experience!
Now, onto the fashion. Enjoy a few of my favorite dresses from Yanina Couture’s Spring 2017 Collection:
The level of detail was INCREDIBLE! And I desperately want embroidered tights now.
This green dress was probably my favorite! I just couldn’t get over the detail!
Tulle, tulle and more tulle. My inner ballerina was delighted!
Again, amazing embroidery!
And the lovely Yulia Yanina herself!
