I had the best time visiting my husband in South Korea and I FELL in LOVE with Seoul! We walked all over, people watching and generally just wandering. (Be sure to check out my Seoul street photography post!)
I mentioned I was getting peckish, and my husband took off down a side street! He lead me into a traditional Korean Tea House and we opted to sit in the traditional manner (on cushions, on the floor.) It was such a wonderful experience! He doesn’t like tea so I ordered for us. We had a warm cinnamon tea and a green plum tea. Both were tasty but the green plum tea was my favorite! Even my tea hating husband agreed that it was delicious!
Thankfully the menu had pictures, since we know like 5 Korean phrases and we ordered a snack/dessert sandwich. It had fig jam and was dusted with peanut powder (so a unique take on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich) topped with a scoop of milk flavored ice cream and red beans. We sat and enjoyed the wonderful weather and atmosphere of the tea house.
After our tea we continued down the street and stumbled upon a cat cafe! (I absolutely adore this concept and feel like there should be a dog cafe too!) The proprietor greeted us at the door and explained the rules. The entry fee was roughly $8 per person and included a drink. I also opted to buy the cat treats so we could feed the kitties!
Interacting with the cats and seeing the different breed personalities was so fun! There were bengals, munchkin cats, persians, siamese and even a sphinx! The sphinx was my favorite!
Her name was Cleopatra (obviously) and she was very elusive but I did everything I could to coax her out of her hiding spot. She was huddled in a cat condo for warmth, and despite my best efforts, she wasn’t one for being cuddled. I hope you enjoyed a little peek into my South Korean adventure!
Have you ever visited a Cat Cafe before? I will see y’all Monday with photos from the Japan half of our trip!
