Ryan and I decided that instead of doing a normal Christmas, we would take a trip. Normally I book everything, but as part of my Christmas gift, Ryan took over the planning and I simply got to come along for the ride! (As someone who suffers from travel anxiety, this was a complete dream!) We decided on Switzerland-cause it’s an easy drive-and then chose Geneva as our destination. We’ve been to Lucerne, Zurich, Innerlaken, and Grindelwald-so Geneva was one of the last spots we wanted to visit. He found La Reserve Geneva and immediately booked it.
The hotel is located on beautiful grounds that overlook the lake. It’s pet friendly-which is perfect for us cause we brought the whole family!
**Also please note all the images are cellphone photos taken by my lovely hubby! I didn’t bring my camera so I could actually relax….and then I regret not having it!**
Out of 10 stars, I’d give La Reserve Geneva a 9!
You would be hard pressed to find more attentive staff than the ones at La Reserve. From the front desk to the spa–everyone was friendly and attentive.
Switzerland is expensive but here you felt like your money went a little further. In previous visits to Switzerland, we paid more for less. A subpar salad would start at 30CHF but at La Reserve the price would be about the same but the salad would be anything but subpar. We dined in their Michelin star restaurant Tsé Fung and loved every bite! It was our first Michelin restaurant experience and won’t be our last!
We opted for breakfast on site and were not disappointed in the slightest. There was a large buffet featuring not just European options (meat, cheese, breads) but also American breakfast staples (bacon, eggs, potatoes) and even mini avocado toast! Coffee/latte/macchiatos/juice/water were all included as well as omelettes made to order and French toast. There was also an extensive gluten free bar that had assorted pastries, muffins, granola and so much more. La Reserve Geneva definitely caters to those who have food allergies.
I really appreciated the considerations made for our pup. Most hotels are not pet-friendly, which makes our travels slightly more complex. La Reserve Geneva was so considerate! They had us in a room that opened up to the outdoors so we could easily take Boo for his potty breaks. Plus they even had bowls, a dog bed, and dog food & bottled water awaiting us in our room. We didn’t need these items but it was SO nice to know they would have covered anything we’d forgotten. Also the room service menu includes a meal for your dog made fresh by the chef and you can pick the protein/ingredients.
Another thing to note, the grounds are extensive but also gated! So this place is actually perfect for families! There is also an outdoor pool and large playground to keep the little ones occupied in the warmer months. We were not surprised at all to see so many families with young children there.
The spa was the real highlight of the trip. (I’m pretty sure the spa was Ryan’s main reason for booking here in the first place…)We enjoyed using the sauna and Hammam as well as many massages. The indoor pool is kept at a warm temperature and is long enough to swim laps! Plus there’s a fully stocked gym featuring innovative equipment and even a pilates reformer!
We quickly settled into a daily routine of gym/swim/spa and just spent our days relaxing. Even ended up opting for room service dinners cause we were so cozy!
Ryan and I both agree that we lived our best lives during our stay…we enjoyed the resort so much, we only went into Geneva for one day!! It was the perfect way to wind down after such a busy year and reconnect as a couple. If you go, you’ve got to let me know what you think!
