I do my best to make the process of working together as smooth and seamless as possible, but sometimes if a client has never worked with a photographer before, it can be a little confusing. I wanted to talk about it all today and answer some questions you may have!
I recommend booking your newborn session once you’ve reached your second trimester. I offer a limited number of newborn sessions each month so that I can best serve each client as well as retain flexibility in my calendar. As we all know, babies come on their own schedule!! Most mamas book in their maternity and newborn session at the same time and reach out very far in advance. It’s not often that I’m able to squeeze in newborn sessions, so please be sure to reach out sooner rather than later!
You won’t be “on the books” until your contract has been signed and the initial non-refundable retainer has been paid. As you can imagine, I receive numerous emails a day from potential clients and I hate having to turn people away because I’m already booked!
Here’s a little breakdown of how our communication might go:
1. You complete the contact form on my website
2. We have a quick phone chat
3. You come in and we discuss your goals for the session and which products best fit your lifestyle
4. I send over the contract via HoneyBook
5. You sign and pay the non-refundable retainer
You are ONLY on the books once step 5 has been completed!
Absolutely!! I proud to be a full service studio! I have a variety of timeless props that are welcome additions to your session. They are handcrafted and specially designed for newborn photography. I also offer a variety of beautiful wraps, outfits, bonnets, headbands, and hats. I also have faux florals and foliage to add dimension to your images and create a unique set up for your sweet baby! You are not required to bring any additional items to your session; I’m happy to have everything ready for you!
Professional photography and heirloom products are an investment in your family’s memories. Just like with any trained specialty, you aren’t paying for a “quick snap of the camera”; you are investing with an educated and trained professional. I completely understand that everyone has different budgets, which is why I offer payment plans. If you would like to set up a payment plan, simply let me know and we can adjust your payment schedule!
The short answer is yes, absolutely! I’m proud to be safety trained in newborn photography from in person workshops, one on one mentoring, and continuing online education. I strongly urge parents who are considering newborn photography to ask their potential newborn photographer questions about their education and training.
(You can read more about that here!)
During the session, your baby is the boss. If they show discomfort or dislike during a particular pose, I will immediately adjust them. This is why I cannot (and will not) guarantee any specific pose. I work with your baby to create images where they are truly comfortable and content. Compromising their safety is never worth “getting a shot.”
My goal when working with clients is ensuring they have a seamless experience from our first phone call–through the actual session–to the ordering appointment–until the final products are safely in your hands.
